Florian Robin is our Marketing and Communication manager at SteepConsult.
Before joining the Positive Thinking Company, he has done a crazy trip around the world:
In the middle of my trip, I had to reduce my costs as I was encountering unexpected expenses. Accommodation was my biggest spending so I decided to cut it.
I was sleeping in a small pavilion in front of one of my local friends’ house (Unyil). It was my last night before flying to my next destination so we went night surfing. Unfortunately, Unyil injured himself pretty badly during the session.
It was 12:30 AM and the closest medical center was 1 hour by motorbike away. I started driving him on his bike when a tropical storm broke. Within a few minute we were soaking wet, in the middle of nowhere, with no visibility. My plane was leaving at 6 in the morning so we couldn’t stop and wait for the storm to calm down.
We arrived safely to the medical center where Unyil was taken care of. On the way back the storm calmed down and we arrived safely back to the house. The pavilion I was sleeping under was totally drenched and I realized that I left my bag there. Everything was soaking.
In the end I spent 1 hour in the airport restrooms, drying my clothes with the dryer so that everything wouldn’t smell and mold.
I managed to get to my next destination where I instantly bought a waterproof housing for my bag.
Even though it seemed like it was horrible at the moment, it was actually a great experience, teaching me how to manage stress and how to always think ahead and positively.
After the rain always comes the sun, in our personal and professional lives: we should always follow the “Akuna Matata” mindset.
